Consileon Austria recently hit the “jackpot” in the Austrian Federal Procurement Agency’s (BBG) “IT Services 2022” tender, winning 17 out of 22 lots, representing a potential total volume of almost 700 million euros over the next five years. The focus is on digitisation projects of more than 2,500 institutions and companies in the public sector.

While we are not allowed to name specific contracts, it is no secret that these involve, among other things, the online processing of public subsidies or the expansion of the offer of digital documents (such as driving licences). The conclusion of these framework agreements represents a great success for Consileon Austria, but requires a tour de force in terms of implementation. New locations in Vienna and Salzburg, as well as company acquisitions and/or participations are planned.

Originally, Consileon Austria did not specialise in public contracts, but the COVID 19 pandemic has made it clear how important digital transformation is in public administration. Digitalisation is still in its infancy in many areas. Nevertheless, Austria is ahead of some EU states in some areas, such as the digital retrieval of the police certificate of good conduct, which still requires a personal application in Germany, for example. Austria’s administration is also currently strongly expanding its digital offerings.

Consileon Austria intends to grow to a three-digit number of employees in the next two to three years. They must come from the EU or Schengen area and have a high level of German. The home office, which is common in the IT industry, is only possible to a limited extent. The search for employees is therefore limited to German-speaking countries. Nevertheless, CEO Harald Kohlberger is confident that he will be able to recruit enough qualified staff, as a secure and long-term job is attractive to many.
